Easy & Frugal Project: DIY “Moon” Dough

So last week I decided to make homemade “moon” dough for my boys (ages 3 and 5)…it was quite the….eh, “experience”….really fun and really messy…let me go ahead and strongly encourage you to take this project outside (I did not)

The best part- you probably already have all you need at home to make this! It is 2 ingredients (the 3rd ingredient is optional)

What you will need:

4 cups flour
1/2 cup baby oil (maybe a little more)
Optional: Crushed pastel chalks to color dough

If you are coloring your dough, I would add your crushed chalk to your flour first.

Add your baby oil and mix well…I used a little more than a 1/2 cup…you will just need to eye-ball it. You want the dough to be light and powdery, but hold together well enough to ball up or make a shape

Be sure to get out the cookie cutters, muffin tins, cups, bowls, spoons- we even got out the ice cream scoop….(as my 5 year old finally pointed out…you will want to remove your Nintendo DS from your work area- oops)…we also broke out the toy cars and action figures…this turned out to be about 30 minutes of fun for my youngest and about an hour of entertainment for my oldest…

As you can see…this DIY is not for the faint of heart….have the broom and vacuum handy if you are brave enough to try this inside.
