If you  are a regular reader, you know I am obsessed with Homemade Body Scrub recipes. I ran out of my last jar of scrub last week and I wanted to try something new. This week I made a Rosemary & Mint sugar scrub! I have to say….it is smells awesome. (By the way, I have the recipes to my other scrubs listed below)

I love these DIY sugar scrubs. They are not only easy to make, but also very inexpensive compared to the retail scrubs on the market.

Of course, the cost will depend on the price of the products you choose. I would say that my cost was around $2 a jar give or take.

First let me say….”how much” you need of the ingredients will depend on the size batch you want to make or the size of the container you are using….but below is a good guide. Also, you CAN substitute the oil I am using with Olive or Coconut.

What You Need:

2 cups of sugar

1 Mint Tea Bag

8- 10 Tablespoons of Grape Seed Oil

5 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil

5 drops of Mint Essential Oil (I used Peppermint)

Fresh Rosemary (optional)

You should be able to purchase these items at your local health food store (like Earth Fare) or you can purchase from Amazon. (I have the links above. By the way, those are my affiliate links.)

The amount of oil you will want to use depends on the texture you want. Do you want a dry scrub or a wet scrub?  I like the texture of wet sand.

I chose to use sugar, but you could use salt. I prefer sugar because it is gentler.

As far as the essential oil. I did 5 drops each….but you can add more or less.

Directions:

Combine ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Then fill your container(s). Easy.

I do like the texture which is very different than the coffee scrub I made a few weeks ago. The smell is fabulous- if you like Rosemary and Mint. Great to sit by your sink.

Remember, that this recipe does contain oil so if you plan on using in the tub or shower you will want to exercise caution. I am sure if you get this on the floor of your tub or shower it will make it extra slick. Also, you may want to use a plastic container if you plan on keeping this in the tub or shower.

I just made a batch and it smells heavenly! I can’t wait to take a bath 🙂
I did want to let you know that the rosemary was left off your ingredient list but I could see from your pictures that you did use it. I think I used 5 or 6 sprigs and chopped them up a little. I hope this was right. Thanks for sharing!!

      Hi Melissa,

I am so glad you tried the scrub. It is one of my faves. Yes, you can add the fresh Rosemary if you like. It is totally up to you. I added it as an optional ingredient. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the scrub! -Jessica
